What Is Bacillus Coagulans Good For? Uses and Benefits

Bacillus Coagulans benefits

Bacillus coagulans is a probiotic, a type of beneficial bacteria. Lactobacillus, a different type of probiotic, creates lactic acid, but it is not the same as this one. Asexual reproduction is possible in B. coagulans due to its production of spores.

Many probiotics, including Lactobacillus, aren’t like this. As a result of this capacity, B. coagulans can remain dormant under settings that would otherwise kill other probiotics. Because of this, this specific type of bacteria is extremely hardy.

It can tolerate harsh conditions, such as the stomach’s high amounts of acid. Aside from reducing stomach pain, B. coagulans may also have additional health benefits. Some of the bacillus coagulans benefits are listed below.

In both human and animal investigations, B. coagulans have been examined. This probiotic has been rated insufficiently effective by the Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database of the US National Library of Medicine. B. coagulans is beneficial in a few short studies, but further research is needed.

Irritable bowel syndrome

Coagulans’ effect on IBS symptoms was studied in a limited study of patients with the condition. Constipation, diarrhea, and abdominal pain were among the symptoms. Those who received a synbiotic containing B. coagulans saw significant improvements in all three symptoms compared to those who received a placebo.

Arthritis

In a small trial, including 45 people with rheumatoid arthritis, B. coagulans was found to have anti-inflammatory properties. For the duration of the study, participants were given a probiotic supplement in addition to their usual prescription regimen.

Coagulans patients had less impairment than those in the control group who took a placebo. Their capacity to engage in daily routines, such as long walks, also increased. C-reactive protein (CRP), a measure of inflammation, was also reduced in participants.

Constipation

For two weeks, participants in a Japanese study had their feces and bowel movements examined and their fecal characteristics recorded. Constipation was a problem for many of the study subjects.

Either a placebo with soy okara powder or the proprietary B. coagulans lilac-01 strain with soy okara powder was administered to the participants. The intestinal function of those who got B. coagulans improved. They also noted a decrease in the number of instances of evacuations that were not completed.

Intestinal gas

Coagulans were found to reduce post-meal intestinal gas symptoms in 61 people compared to a placebo. Stomach distension, flatulence, and pain in the abdomen were among the symptoms.

The pain levels of those who took the probiotic were significantly reduced. Compared to the placebo group, it was observed that there was a significant reduction in abdominal distension.

Infection of the respiratory tract

A proprietary variant of B. coagulans was tested on the immune system in a small trial with ten men and women. The probiotic boosted the generation of T cells in the participants exposed to adenovirus and influenza A. disease-fighting cells like this are found in the body.

Improving one’s immunity

According to short research, B. coagulans may help enhance the immune system and ward off viral-induced respiratory tract illnesses, such as the cold or flu. Ten healthy women and men were given B. coagulans every day for 30 days as part of this study’s research design.

All trial subjects were subjected to adenovirus and influenza A after their 30-day treatment. Scientists have observed that employing bacillus coagulans dramatically enhances immune response cell generation. It’sIt’s possible that the probiotic B. coagulans has health benefits.

Even though it’s been researched in several contexts (rheumatoid arthritis and IBS, for example), much more research is needed to substantiate the benefits of bacillus coagulans.

Before using this probiotic or any other supplement, please be sure to talk to your doctor about it.
