Alfredo Darrington Bowman, who is globally renowned as Dr. Sebi, was a herbalist from Honduran who became popular during the late 20th and early 21st centuries. He spent decades researching ancient botanical wisdom to create an effective diet system to heal and restore the body to its optimal health and wellness state.

Dr. Sebi emphasized on the importance of maintaining an alkaline body pH, which he believed could help prevent and cure disease. His diet recommendations mainly consisted of plant-based eating that excludes processed foods, refined sugars, and artificial ingredients and allows alkaline vegetables and foods to detoxify the body by eliminating toxic waste.

Despite facing criticism from some in the medical community, Dr. Sebi maintained a loyal following of supporters who credited him with helping them overcome various health issues.

 

A Brief History of Dr. Sebi

Dr. Sebi was born on 26 November 1933, in Illanga, Honduras. His grandmother taught him about herbal healing. He was self-educated. Over his years, he studied herbs all over North, Central, and South America, the Caribbean, and Africa. He developed a unique methodology and approach to healing humans with herbs that are rooted in more than 30 years of experience.

When he moved to the U.S., he wasn’t really happy with the modern medical practices that they used to treat various diseases. He had been diagnosed with impotence, diabetes, and asthma, and had undergone many medical treatments that did not help him. That’s what led him to an herbalist in Mexico, and shortly thereafter, he started his herbal healing practice in New York.

He eventually started a second practice, which he called the USHA Research Institute in La Ceiba, Honduras. He also worked with many renowned celebrities, including Michael Jackson, John Travolta, Eddie Murphy, Steven Seagal, and Lisa Lopes.

Dr. Sebi dedicated more than three decades of his life to coming up with a methodology, which was only possible through years of empirical knowledge. After getting inspired by his knowledge and experience, he started to share the compounds with other people. This is how he gave birth to Dr. Sebi’s Cell Food.

Dr. Sebi passed away on 9 August 2016, due to pneumonia.
